What is the Housing, Grants and Regeneration Act?

The Housing, Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 (also known as the Construction Act) is a UK law that governs payment provisions and dispute resolution procedures for construction contracts.

The act introduced several important provisions, including requirements for parties to construction contracts to provide written notices of payment and the right to adjudication of disputes. The act also established the Construction Industry Scheme, which regulates payments to subcontractors in the construction industry.

In addition to the Construction Act, there have been several other acts with similar names that deal with housing, grants, and regeneration in the UK, such as the Housing Act 1988, the Housing Act 2004, and the Housing and Regeneration Act 2008. These acts cover a wide range of issues related to housing, such as the regulation of landlords and tenants, the provision of affordable housing, and the regeneration of deprived areas.

Here at Decode we can provide commerial advise on both complying with and using the Construction Act in both paying and receiving funds and dispute resolution.
